"OMFG EGORAPTOR PARODY!!!11" is pissing me off like hell. Anything even starting to resemble it is immediatley called a knock-off. Most things aren't Egoraptor parodies, but fast paced video game parodies, which existed far before the Awesome series, but popularized by Egoraptor. And if something is popular, people ARE going to imitate it no matter what. I don't think the minor details should be what have to separate every parody from Egoraptor, because in reality less than 5% of things that are accused of being Awesome rip offs truly are.

yep sure is. well it had to be done, I just cant stand why everything fast is imediately "egoraptor" Im not knocking the guy, hes a brilliant, talented and funny animator, but does it really have to be SO big that now every fast thing is like his work? its not right
It's unfortunate that people always think that if it's a parody, that it's copying off of Egoraptor. And when I say parody, I mean EVERY parody. I haven't seen a parody yet that hasn't been bashed for being too similar to Egoraptor's work. Even if they're nothing like it, they still bash it.
And being in the middle of this, it sure would suck to be Egoraptor, because he has to deal with all of the fans who rip on work for being like his. That has to draw some negative attention.
it kinda would piss me off if I found that a cartoon completely different to mine was compared to my work... never has done, but if it did, it would make me a bit annoyed.

i wouldn't say it's completely similar in terms of joke deliverance but i'd say it's about half egoraptor half oney. oney's DBZ esque fight was his own style and is kind of represented in left for speed as well.
next time don't pick a character in the exact same pose

That bothers me that if I ever want to either view or make fast paced comedy it's going to be referred to Egoraptor. I was actually planning a flash just today about how everything is "copying" Egoraptor.

People reviewing things on the internet throw around the term "rip-off" too much. Any time they don't like something, and that something is kind of like something else, it's a "rip-off." You are not "ripping off" something if you are merely inspired by it. The term "rip-off" as it was used around the '70s and '80s was tantamount to cheating, defrauding, plagiarizing. It originated, I think, from someone ripping off the cover of a box of cereal and putting on an inferior brand of cereal to sell it.
Nowadays in the age of the internet it seems this term is applied to any kind of copy or imitation.
Whenever I see the term "rip-off" these days in a review it tells me, "the person writing this review has no creativity and can't appreciate this work for what it is."

well of course they weren't sitting around and actively thinking about copying egoraptor. The drawing style has nothing to do with that. Everyone has a different technique. But if you want to reduce to appearances, look at the characters you're juxtaposing here. Their arms are moving in completely the same style. Look at the background. They're drawn in the exact same way. But what really makes them the same is the pacing jokes, delivery, and thoughtless premises.

I can see a big difference in the bacgrounds. sure the jokes are fast paced, but what can you expect when you have "SPEED" in the cartoon, it was INTENDED for fast jokes. all I can say is I didnt see anything comparing egoraptor to oney besides its speed which I shouldnt even be thinking about anyway because there is no better way to parody int he eyes of the indie newgrounds users.
