I've seen other flashes that were very non-egoraptor, and yet I have read criticisms of people claiming the opposite. It's unfair for an artist who wants to do a certain style of comedy to automatically be accused of stealing/copying.
But the reason people compared THIS movie to Egoraptor's style is because he is a popular artist, and this style is REMINISCENT of Ego style. He definitely has his own spin to it, but the pacing and drawing style remind me of egorator. The squiggly brush strokes, flat coloring, over the top expressions, and the entire sequence is short but speedy, with abrupt transitions between scenes.
That does not necessarily mean he is copying Ego's style, but all of the above is part of his formula, and we specifically relate it to Ego because once again, he is well known, so it's easier to see the similarities.
Oh, and Olney also made a "Grand Thefy Awesome" flash, which further hints that he may have been inspired by Egoraptor.
It bugs me when people who are NOT EGORAPTOR try to be him. I can understand a tribute. The majority of my flashes use unoriginal characters, but they are mainstream ones, above and beyond the Newgrounds community.
It was all fine and good when 'Awesome' was intended to look crap on purpose, and you could obviously tell when something was parodying the series. But since MGA2 and the Redux Awesomes (y'know, the one's where he actually tries to draw properly), the line gets all the more blurrier.

It really, I mean REALLY doesn't matter if the characters are less visually compared to the Awesome movies, because in reality it's a videogame parody, draw, and the game's characters are drawn way out of proportion and are screaming all of the time. I did review the movie before saying I would have enjoyed the movie more if it was made before the Awesome movies.
Saying using pupils, teeth and one line eyebrows makes it a different style is utter bullshit.
first of all, I think you might want to rethink your analysis of what egoraptor's style looks like. egoraptor does include pupils. he does include ears, and plenty of one-line eyebrows.

and anyway I think its a dumb argument to make to say Left 4 Speed isn't done in the style of the Awesome series. If you don't want to call it "egoraptor style" fine, but the fact that it's done in the style of the other Awesome cartoons goes beyond just the art style.
it's a fast-paced videogame parody with lots of over-the-top action-poses motions. with the exception of the lack of pupils it looks pretty similar to his Grand theft Awesome cartoon. Besides, I think it would be a hell of a challenge to copy egoraptor's drawing style identically. Even if Oney was trying to, being as nit-picky as the smoothness of the brush tool would be rather extreme. He's just a different artist, so he draw's differently.
If Oney had actually called it Left 4 Awesome, there would be no argument to make here. If he called it Left 4 Awesome, how could you possibly say "that isn't done in the style of the awesome series." Therefore, the only thing that even makes this debatable is the title. That said, how does this stand up?
Oney may not have said, "I'm going to make Left 4 Awesome... but change the name" but that seems to be the end result. It bares more similarities to egoraptor's cartoons than it does to any kind of original work.
on a separate note:.... who the hell cares if he was trying to make Left 4 Awesome or not? At the time I'm writing this it's got the overrated score of 4.40. Whatever he did, the public loves it.... I'll ignore the fact that the public is also in love with the Awesome series....
I agree, especially after reading some of the reviews left for Left 4 Speed. But you gatta factor in how retarded the avg. NG user is. I read one review that sounded something like, "This was good and if egoraptor saw it he would be honored or something blah blah blah, I love him, etc." Which made me want to kill something. Egoraptor is ok, but its just so over hyped and making kids spaz out uncontrollably.
Left 4 Speed was pretty funny, not as funny ask Ackbars tho.

This is one of the most pathetic statements I have seen you make along with "lets try and get it an award".
Family guy and the simpsons are almost the exact same thing, even tough the drawing style is different. The concept of a "stupid character" running a family, having wild antics remains.
In this case, Oney and ego are quite similar, what I see is that you built a point on two images that are almost the same and pretended you find no similarity between them.
Oney and egoraptor often present characters in a cartoony style with a very similar collor pallete and atmosphere where characters are angry and scream all the time. the storytelling, the comedic timing and the dialogues are almost exacly equal. Heck, even the facial expression and corporal language are the same.The eyes of oney and ego look equal too.
Overall, it looks like 2 drawings made by one person.
Im not saying this is a bad thing, It can be implemented effectively and be entretaining and it often works with these 2 guys.

Why are you defending him anyways? Its not like he cares much, its obvious egoraptor and oney use the same kind of humor in many of their cartoons, and since Ego has been longer and is more popular than Oney, the comparisons arise. Anways, going back to the point, I have to agree with you. The styles are similar, yes, but that's only because they're animated in the same way; less detail, more movement. Now, I'm a fan of some of Ego's works and I do very much like them, but to immediately label anything as a "ripoff" of that work? Horrible! And also, I bet most of the people claiming this Left4Dead parody to be a ripoff haven't tried animating ever, or haven't submitted anything to the portal.
For the record, I haven't submitted anything here, but i'm not very good at animating. At all. So I'm trying not to crap up the place with my tacky work xD;

you know, i actually feel worse for egoraptor in this situation.
he created an awesome series! (no pun intended)
and it got him insta-fame. there were hundreds of spin-offs and people began associating anything awesome to him. who really cares if oney copied him? honestly? its just a cartoon style, and its just voice acting. if its got a totally different story and voice actors and its own flavor, its fine by me.
